APUS Launcher is a personalization and optimization suite for Android devices.

Android launchers are notoriously bloated in terms of their on-disk footprint, but APUS Launcher manages to come in under 3 MB, which is quite impressive. One reason for that is that the developers are very focused on making your device easier and faster to use rather than personalizing it.

There are numerous ways APUS Launcher makes the Android experience simpler, such as a fast and accessible way to locate apps that don’t currently have a shortcut on the home screen. It also has Free Swipe, which lets you browse a list of recently used apps. Another way APUS Launcher condenses the experience to your home screen is top-level notifications for phone calls, SMS, Gmail and just about any other app that offers push notifications.

One way that app seeks to save you time is by making recommendations. For instance, it can recommend popular apps based on your usage pattern, which is neat in theory. An update to the app added Newsfeed, which shows trending news, games and apps. However, there seems to be a shift toward recommending what is most profitable for the developer rather than most useful for you.

APUS Launcher focuses on streamlining the Android user experience. That emphasis means that a lot of customization options you might expect from a launcher aren’t here. That’s not necessarily a con. If you want to simplify Android, APUS is great, but otherwise, you may want to look elsewhere.
